Hey there! How you doing? I’m HashtagMarky, or just Marky for short. I’m a self-taught Pokémon ROM hacker, book lover, and tech builder based in the United Kingdom.
I started ROM hacking in 2023 and started building Pokémon Ikigai, my first fully original hack, about a year later. It’s a custom, Generation 3, Pokémon ROM hack for the GBA, built on pokeemerald-expansion. It’s set in a small area called Vyraton with an original story, gameplay mechanics, and art style. When I’m not knee-deep in pokeemerald source code, I’m reading or listening my way through my sci-fi and fantasy book pile. I’ve always thought of reading as a nice way to unwind, or an audiobook to be a good way to help a commute not feel like a bore. But between all of that, you might just find me planning my next tech project.
