Jurassic PokéPark

Jurassic PokéPark Screenshots

Washed ashore by a storm during a treasure hunting expedition, Larvy and friends find themselves on a mysterious island where the past seems to have come alive. After meeting an eccentring professor, things start to quickly go south. Can they outsmart their prehistoric foes and come back home safe…?

Jurassic PokéPark is a small story-focussed ROM hack built for the third Team Aqua’s Romhacking Competition, inspired by Bivurnum and made by Marky and (mostly) Nico. The competition theme was Crossovers and/or Puzzles, and our answer was a prehistoric park full of Pokémon that arguably should never have been brought back.

Featuring:

  • A cinematic and (hopefully) thought-provoking storyline that changes based on your actions!
  • Overworld and battle puzzles!
  • Beautiful locations to explore!
  • Achievements to be gotten over multiple playthroughs!
  • Banging tunes from various Jurassic Park games!
  • New UI and sprites throughout!

v1.1.0 — The Post TARC Update

A brand new release to Jurassic PokéPark, introducing a hoast of new features and the squishing of a few pesky bugs.

  • Achievements: Adds an achievement system that persists between multiple runs to be used to track progress. See if you can complete them all!
  • Graphics overhaul: Replace all overworld sprites with high quality, and higher frame spritesheets in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Style.
  • Upgraded UI: Improve many user interfaces, unifying and making them more streamlined.
  • Improved Puzzles: Adjust some puzzles to have clearer complete conditions.
  • AutoSaving: Better timed and more frequent autosaving in order to reduce punishment for a ‘Game Over’.
  • Early Player Feedback: Implement a lot of the feedback from release day players.

A team effort for Team Aqua's Romhacking Competition, brought together by Bivurnum and definitely built mostly by Nico. We used public resources, and built on pokeemerald-expansion, and had the help of the wider ROM hacking community in the Pokémon Hearth and Team Aqua's Hideout Discord Servers.
